Guji is a zone in the Oromia region of Ethiopia, and is named after a tribe of the Oromo people.

The Oromo people have inhabited the Southern Highlands region since the fifteenth century.

The road south out of Addis Ababa leads straight to premium coffee country.Farms range from 1 to 20 hectares in size. Banana and mango trees shade the coffee as it grows, imparting a certain fruitiness to the soil that enhances flavors in the beans.

Thousands of smallholder farmers bring their ripe cherries to central washing stations to be processed. Their rightfully proud of their high-quality, sweet, clean coffee, and of their culture. In this area, the people have been electing their leader and local representatives by a centuries-old indigenous democratic system referred to as Gadaa.

The Guji origins come through as very refined fruit/berry notes, with a citrus like acidity. Aromatics are distinctly floral and sweet. Boysenberry, elder flower, treacle.
